The Fight Against HIV/AIDS in Hawaii

Across the globe, the transmission of HIV/AIDS has been growing at an alarming rate. According to the CDC, there were 34 million people living with HIV/AIDS in 2011.

And the beautiful state of Hawaii is no exception. The Hawaii Department of Health, in 2010 reported a total of 4,209 cases of HIV/AIDS since the epidemic began.

To find out how we can further fight transmission of HIV on the island, we spoke with locals and experts on the issue. And the Hawaii Island HIV/AIDS foundation was our first stop.

For all ages, the most powerful tools to fight transmission on the island.are education and testing.
