Wildfire Threatens Elderly In Kona

Around 2:15 this afternoon a wildfire spread uphill through the tall grass below Hualalai Elderly Housing.
A resident said, “It sounded like a bomb went off. One minute later, three teenage kids were running down the sidewalk…over the hill. I don’t know if they did it, but I can identify them. And they are in trouble.”
Hawaii Fire Department responded quickly with firetrucks and long hoses to battle the blaze. Residents of Hualalai Elderly Housing watched with concern as the emergency responders reigned in the fire.
